Anna Valentini, Esq. Attended a Meeting with USCIS Director

On September 24, 2009 Anna Valentini, Esq. had the honor of attending a Community Stakeholders Meeting with the new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service Director Alejandro Mayorkas.

On September 24, 2009 Anna Valentini, Esq. had the honor of attending a Community Stakeholders Meeting with the new Director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), Alejandro Mayorkas. Anna Valentini, Esq. was invited to the meeting since she represents a large number of aliens applying for immigration benefits with the USCIS New York City District Office. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce new USCIS Director Mayorkas to the stakeholders and to provide them with information regarding the future of USCIS.

Director Mayorkas, who himself is a Cuban immigrant, was nominated by President Obama on April 24, 2009 and confirmed by the US Senate on August 7, 2009. He has served as the United States Attorney for the Central District of California and was a partner in O’Melveny and Myers. Director Mayorkas holds a J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.

At the meeting, Director Mayorkas mentioned the agency is seriously considering a fee increase. The most recent USCIS fee increase was implemented in the summer of 2007 effectively doubling or tripling all USCIS application fees. Potential clients of Valentini Law Offices PLLC should be aware that the fee increase is in the works. If you are eligible for immigration benefits consider applying immediately, before the impending fee hike.
